An Essequibo Coast security guard was yesterday charged with the attempted murder for shooting a businessman during a row over a pool game.
Randy Washington, of Adventure, Essequibo Coast, appeared in the Suddie Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Sunil Scarce, charged with the attempted murder of Wilfred Tennyson.
He was not required to plea to the indictable charge and was remanded prison until April 7th.
Police had said that Washington, a Supernumerary Constable, had visited a bar operated by Tennyson, where he was drinking and playing pool. They said an argument erupted after Tennyson won a game and Washington allegedly whipped out his firearm and shot the man to his abdomen.
Washington, police said, had left his place of employment and visited the bar although he was on duty.
Tennyson remains hospitalised.
