Thousands of turfites are expected to throng the Kennard Memorial Turf Club, owned by former Chief Justice Cecil Kennard, for the staging of a grand horse race meet and a duck curry competition today from noon.
According to a release, seven races are listed on the day’s programme with in excess of $3M in cash and other incentives up for grabs.
The feature event is for horses classified E and lower over a distance of seven furlongs for the first prize of $400,000M and trophy. Among the starters are Golden Blue Echo, Goodwill Boy, Settling Star, Brace Sky, It’s My Choice, Got To Go and Campador.
The steeds running in the event for H and lower will be racing for a winner’s purse of $220,000 over six furlongs.
There will be an ‘I’ class six furlongs event for a winners take of $160,000 and trophy. Next up, the three years maiden event has attractive winners take of $150,000 and trophy over five furlongs.
Horses classified K and lower will be racing for the winner’s purse of $120,000 and trophy over five furlongs.
There are two L class races with the first being for L non-winners over five furlongs for a winning pocket of $100,000 and trophy.
The other event is for L non-winners with the top horse set to ride away with $80,000 and trophy also over five furlongs. Outstanding performers will receive trophies and other incentives compliments of Ramesh Sunich of the Trophy Stall in Bourda Market.
Other attractions will include games and a fun section for kids including a trampoline, face painting, and a bouncing castle. The duck curry competition heats up at 10:00 hrs.
