Some 18 kilos of marijuana was found in a container at the John Fernandes Limited wharf early Saturday morning.
According to a source at the Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU), the container, which arrived from Jamaica, was sitting on the wharf loaded with perishable goods. The marijuana was compressed in packs. In addition to CANU, officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit of the Guyana Revenue Authority were also involved in the operation.
No one has been arrested in connection with the find in the container and the investigations are still ongoing.
