Amelia’s Ward Jets and Kwakwani will meet in the final of the Hamid Foundation U23 basketball championships following semi-final wins over Half Mile Bulls and Retrieve Raiders respectively on Saturday.
Played at the Mackenzie Sport Club (MSC) hardcourt in Linden, Jets, who qualified for the final four due to a superior points difference and after it was recognized that Bankers Trust Falcons had fielded an ineligible player in the group round, defeated Half Mile Bulls 72-61.
Shannon Cadogan top scored for the Jets with 22 points while Vibert Benjamin scored 12 points.
For Bulls, Terron Welch netted 20 points and Tahquille Johnson 16 points.
In the other fixture, Kwakwani humbled Raiders 67-41. Troy David led the way with 23 points while Domar Gladstone tallied 20 points and Orwin Samuels six points.
For Raiders, Coel Winter and Travis Sutton netted 11 and 10 points respectively.
In attendance of the matches was Guyana Amateur Basketball Federation (GABF) President Nigel Hinds, who made a donation of basketballs and nets to the Linden Amateur Basketball Association (LABA) and the Kwakwani female team.
