Two men, including one accused of stealing from his grandmother, were both granted bail after denying separate counts of larceny yesterday.
The men, Saddam Hussain, 18, of Lot 204 Zeelugt, East Bank Essequibo, and Sajid Ramlakhan, 26, an electrician of Met-en-Meerzorg, West Coast Demerara, appeared before Magistrate Rochelle Liverpool at the Leonora Magistrate’s Court.
Hussain is accused of larceny from his grandmother’s home, located at Zeelugt, between April 7 and April 8. The charge stated that on the days in question, he stole $110,000 and US$300, which were the property of Kowsilla.
The unrepresented man was placed on $80,000 bail after pleading not guilty and the matter was adjourned to May 2.
Meanwhile, Ramlakhan was accused of stealing 10 ducks, valued at $55,000.
The charge stated that between April 5 and April 6, he stole the ducks, which belonged to Davendra Rai.
Ramlakhan was granted his release on $30,000 bail and the matter was adjourned until May 8.
