Charged with being in possession of almost two pounds of cannabis, two men were on Thursday remanded to prison.
Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan read the charge to Dexter Manning, and Jason Norton, who are accused of having 884 grammes (equivalent to 1.9 pounds) of cannabis for trafficking on April 10, at Jackson Street, Tucville.
Manning, of Lot 10 West Front Road, and Norton, of 699 ‘C’ Field, Sophia, denied the charge.
Police prosecutor Arvin Moore objected to bail being granted, citing that a sting operation was set up which resulted in the drugs being found in a black bag in the back seat of the car that the two men were in. According to the prosecutor, the cannabis was found next to Manning.
The men were subsequently remanded to prison and are expected to make their next court appearance on May 3 before Magistrate Fabayo Azore.
