President of the Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) Patrick Harding has congratulated Sherfane Rutherford and Keemo Paul on making their first-class debuts for the successful Guyana Jaguars team this season and is urging them to strive to represent the West Indies.
According Harding, both Paul and Rutherford possess the talent and grit to push on to represent the West Indies once they remain focussed and embrace the responsibility of being ambassadors.
“I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate you youngsters on making your first-class debut. You both now have the opportunity to go a step further in putting your name up there to represent the West Indies,” Harding said.
Both Paul and Rutherford have made a fruitful transition from the youth to the senior level. They join an illustrious group of regional and international players to represent the proud history of the Queenstown club.
Harding also sought to counsel the youngsters about the importance of representing the Club, Guyana and their families beyond the boundaries of the cricket field while continuing to stress the importance making their opportunities lasting and impressionable one.
DCC, also referred to as the `Home of Legends’ would have over the years produced players such as Clive Lloyd, Lance Gibbs, Roy Fredericks, and Roger Harper and in more recent times Travis Dowlin, Tevin Imlach, Christopher Barnwell and Trevon Griffith.
