A youth was yesterday remanded to prison after he was read two robbery charges.
Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan read the charges to Glen Eastman, 19, of Lot 21 Samatta Point, Grove, when he appeared before her in a city court.
The first charge read to Eastman alleged that on April 25, at Middle Street, he stole a $20,000 shoulder bag, containing $5,500, which was the property of Latisha Nandram.
It was also alleged that on April 27, at Middle Street, McDoom, together with another, he robbed Kishana Henry of a quantity of items, including cash, amounting in total to $51,200.
Subsequent to reading the charges, Chief Magistrate McLennan heard that the police file is complete and that the defendant was positively identified by both complainants.
The matter was then transferred to Magistrate Annette Singh, who will be hearing the trial.
Magistrate Singh later remanded the defendant on both charges and adjourned the matters to May 29.
