The woman who was found dead at John’s Hotel on George Street, Werk-en-Rust, three weeks ago, was on Saturday identified.
Stabroek News was told that the woman was identified as Donette Skinner, of Berbice. She was identified by her nephew.
This newspaper had reported that the woman was found lifeless by hotel staff after check out time passed and they had not seen her.
The proprietor of the hotel, Orin John, had told Stabroek News that the woman was a regular customer and had visited the hotel on April 16.
“We heard the water running this morning early, around 8, so we didn’t take it for anything and then it turn off, so it must mean she must be shower and then something happened,” John told this publication.
However, upon checking her room, after breaking the door down, they found the woman’s lifeless body lying on the bed. At the time, her body bore no marks of violence.
Based on reports received, the woman was a known substance abuser.
