A man was yesterday remanded to prison after he was accused of stabbing an individual who he alleged had supplied the police with information about him committing a crime.
Denzil Wilson, 24, was read the charge by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan.
The charge stated that on May 2, at Hadfield, and High streets, with intent to commit murder he wounded Seon Wright.
According to prosecutor Arvin Moore, Wright suffered several stab wounds to his chest and is presently hospitalized at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) and is listed as critical. The prosecutor added, that on the day of the incident, the complainant was sitting at the defendant’s store when Wilson rushed up to him, and punched him to his face.
The defendant then accused him of giving police information about him committing a criminal act.
It was at that moment that Wright, attempted to run away but Wilson pulled out a knife and advanced towards him, within the vicinity of the Parliament Building.
Wilson stabbed Wright about his body and then ran away.
The court heard that Wright was later taken to the GPH by the Guyana Fire Service Ambulance.
Wilson of Castello Housing Scheme, Cemetery Road, was later remanded to prison by Chief Magistrate McLennan.
The matter will be heard again on May 25.
