A budding rivalry is brewing between Guyana’s fittest man, Dillon Mahadeo of CrossFit 592 and the Caribbean’s fittest man, Trinidadian, Mattheaus Othero of IGone CrossFit.
During the weekend in Barbados, the two gladiators went tooth and nail and battled in a series of gravity defying feats and obstacle courses during the fourth Barbados ‘Island Fit Games’ which was held at the Divi SouthWinds Beach Resort.
When the dust settled, however, Mahadeo (223 points) who had the lead heading into the final event, did not have enough left in the tank and left the door open to Othero (249 points) who worked his way to the top podium spot.
Jason Cox of Limitless Performance CrossFit completed the podium with 217 points.
Said Mahadeo’s teammate Jamie McDonald yesterday “Dillon was in the first position after the first four events on Day One and was still in first after event five today, but was overtaken by Mattheaus Othero in the final event.”
Mattheaus won first place in Trinidad’s competition last year as well so there is a budding friendly rivalry there.”
McDonald, who never recovered from a shoulder injury after the first event, finished 19th with 76 points while his other teammate, McRae placed 20th with 58.
Up next for the trio? A return to Trinidad in August followed by the local fit expo later in the year.
