Dear Editor,
I am not marketing Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC), nor am I advocating for the consumption of fast foods, but would like to commend that local franchise for their recently experienced good service standards!
A few days ago, I had the urge to treat myself to some fast food. KFC was my pick, since I had not yet sampled the re-introduced brand. Fortunately, I got parking just in front the outlet and entered to a short and manageable queue. While waiting my turn to order I observed the décor. The ambience was great. The floor was clean and unoccupied tables were free of residue. I was very impressed because I have visited several other overseas outlets but this Georgetown outlet certainly took the prize for cleanliness.
The staff was also neatly attired, and every one of them wore the appropriate hairnets and caps. Their morale appeared unusually high compared with what seems to be the invariable local norm of mediocrity.
While placing my order, the cashier was momentarily interrupted by a colleague who promptly asked me to be excused and subsequently apologized for the less than 20 seconds intrusion. That instance caused me to become even more enthralled. I could not resist the impulse to commend the staff for the courtesy received. She graciously reciprocated appreciation for my compliment before continuing her efficacy.
Such courtesies are absent in almost every sector these days, and remonstration against ill-mannered people can potentially bring you to the brink of being killed.
So, kudos to the staff of KFC – Guyana! I trust that my memorable experience of their high standards and service was not just an isolated instant of good taste, but is of consistence to all patrons.
Yours faithfully,
Orette Cutting
