(Trinidad Express) Murder victim Darren Dinanath was a Hindu pundit and millionaire businessman who had a penchant for designer clothing and jewellery.
His body was discovered on Monday night, with his throat slit, in one of his homes at Clifford Street, Curepe.
Police said the body was found in a ransacked bedroom.
Robbery is the suspected motive.
Dinanath’s black BMW, parked on the street outside the apartment, was untouched.
He was the owner of a building in Curepe which housed Asylum club and D Place Restaurant and Bar on Southern Main Road.
Police said that Dinanth also owned a home in Chaguanas, and was originally from Dam Road, Point Fortin.
The Express was told that Dinanath was married and a father of two.
A relative said that Dinanath spent Sunday with his family in Point Fortin and had cooked a meal for them.
He attended a baby shower in Arima later that night, the Express was told by a friend who wished to remain anonymous.
The source also said that Dinanath recently underwent surgery and was just getting back on his feet.
An autopsy was expected to be performed on his body at the Forensic Sciences Centre, St James, on Tuesday.
