Dear Editor,
I reside the Gilhuys Square, West Ruimveldt area.
There are some residents who are presently carrying out construction work to their premises and they are bringing loads of sand and dumping it on the parapet. Frequently, sand ends up in the drain and this causes the water to back up on the pavement.
I had spoken to both Mr. Vaughn Canterbury and Mrs. Tracy Bancroft from the City Council, but to date, nothing has been done.
Another resident brought a truckload of mud and dumped this on the parapet and a similar situation arose where some of the mud ended up in the drain. I spoke with them and requested them to clear the drain, but to no avail.
Editor, this situation has become unbearable as my yard floods easily even during the dry season as the water has nowhere to run off.
Whenever there is a heavy downpour, the remainder washes into the drain.
I am asking the relevant authorities to do something urgently about this situation as it affects me terribly and is also a health hazard.
Yours faithfully,
