The Rupununi Football Association (RFA) in partnership with the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) will commence a Beginner’s Referee Course today at Lethem, Region Nine.
The event which is slated to conclude on the May 14th, will consist of approximately 40 male and female participants from five villages across the Central Rupununi region. The daily sessions which will be facilitated by the Head of the GFF Refereeing Department, Stanley Lancaster, will commence from 10:00hrs and conclude at 17:00hrs.
According to a release from the GFF, “This is the second course facilitated by the GFF for the RFA and will cover both classroom and field sessions including the Laws Of The Game, filling match forms, report writing, the role and functions of referees as well as that of the Fourth Officials.”
Following the conclusion of the programme, a Referees Oversight Body will be installed. Similarly, a Referee Development Officer (RDO) will also be appointed. This individual will be responsible for appointing and training referees.
