Father raising money to save daughter shot dead

(Trinidad Guardian) A father who was leading a fund raising drive to save his daughter’s life was murdered outside his Diego Martin home on Thursday night.

Anthony Julien, 52, who shot dead near a village parlour at Unity Lane, Richplain after returning from liming with friends.

The gunman walked into the parlour shortly after 8 pm pretending to be a customer before shooting Julien.

The killer, who police suspect was a hired gun from out the area, ran off.

Julien was taken to the St James Medical Complex where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police said Julien, a father of six and grandfather, was clearly the target of the gunman and have been informed that there was an altercation between him and a neighbour recently. Julien, a contractor, was recently awarded a Government contract but police said his murder had nothing to do with that.

His 13-year-old daughter needs a heart transplant and the family had been on a drive to raise US$160,000.

Julien’s murder has taken the murder toll to 185 for the year.
