‘Hotskull’ remanded over murder of amateur footballer

A fish cleaner was yesterday charged with the murder of amateur footballer, Paul Daniels, who was shot four months ago, during a robbery in Albouystown.

Alvin Jones, also called ‘Hotskull’, 25, of Castello Housing Scheme, George-town was not required to plead to the indictable charge of murder which was read to him by       Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan. The charge against Jones stated that on February 2, at Indepen-dence Boulevard, Albouys-town, he murdered Paul Daniels, during the course or furtherance of a robbery.

Police Prosecutor Arvin Moore informed the court that the police’s file is still incomplete.

The matter was subsequently adjourned until June 12 by Chief Magistrate McLennan and Jones was remanded to prison.

Police, in a statement on the murder, said that Daniels had just arrived at the home of his girlfriend, Christine Castillo, and was watching television when the two robbers, one of whom was armed with a gun, entered through a northern door which had been left open.

undisclosed amount of cash.

Police added that Daniels made an attempt to retrieve the stolen items and chased after the men, who shot him in his chest. Whilst the men hopped on their bicycles and escaped, Daniels was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
