A teenager was yesterday brought to court and later remanded to prison for allegedly robbing a man of a smart phone.
Eighteen-year-old Shamar Granum pleaded not guilty to a charge which stated that on May 9, at Kitty, Georgetown, he along with another, robbed Damion Sardinha of a Samsung Galaxy smart phone, valued at $71,000, and at the time, before, or after the robbery, he made use of personal violence to Sardinha.
The matter was heard in the courtroom of Magistrate Fabayo Azore.
Police Prosecutor Simone Payne objected to Granum being placed on bail, citing her reasons as the gravity of the charge, the seriousness and the penalty attached to the charge. Payne further informed the court that the police’s file in the matter is incomplete.
Magistrate Fabayo Azore subsequently refused bail for Granum and remanded him to prison. The matter was adjourned until May 31.
