A Prospect, East Bank Deme-rara Pandit is now hospitalised at the Georgetown Public Hospital after he was shot by bandits at his home, shortly after returning home from the Cheddi Jagan International Airport.
The injured man was identified as Heeralall Doobay, who was shot in an attack around 2:00 am yesterday.
Sunday Stabroek was told that Doobay was a patient of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), nursing a gunshot wound to the shoulder, up to last evening.
Doobay had just returned home after dropping his wife off at the airport when bandits jumped his fence and managed to gain entry into his house, where they confronted him.
Sunday Stabroek was told that the bandits had to break down three doors to get into the house. They later escaped on motorcycles with a quantity of jewellery and an undisclosed amount of cash, but not before shooting Doobay.
Attempts to get information on the incident from the police were unsuccessful.
