Warren ’40’ McKay turned back the clock on Saturday to win the feature 35-lap event of the Powerade multi-race programme which was staged at the National Park.
The veteran rider outsmarted and out sprinted the break away trio of Paul DeNobrega, Jamal John and Chris Griffith to cart off the spoils of the race in one hour, 21 minutes and 45 seconds.
It was the ‘Big Four O’ first win of the 2017 season.
DeNobrega, John and Griffith who had broken away from the peloton in the third lap and enjoyed the lead until the final quarter of a mile, placed second, third and fourth respectively.
Alonzo Ambrose and Mario King filled out the top six rewarding positions.
While ’40’ took home the winner’s trophy, John cashed in after pocketing five of the eight sprint prizes, the remaining went to his breakaway mates DeNobrega (two) and Griffith (one).
Elsewhere on the circuit, Junior Niles continued his dominance in the veteran category, after being victorious in the U-45, five-lap event.
Other winners on Saturday included: John Niles (BMX 6-9), Nigel Duguid (Juvenile), Seon Budhan (Mountain Bike), Zab James (BMX 9-12), David Hinds (BMX Boys and Girls 12-14), John Christian (BMX 12-14) and Kennard Lovell (U-50 veteran).
