HOVE, England, CMC – Barbadian all-round sensation Jofra Archer completed an eight-wicket haul as he helped propel Sussex to a crushing innings and 177-run victory over Durham in the English County Championship here yesterday.
Resuming the day on 97 for four still requiring a further 284 to avoid an innings defeat, the visitors capitulated for 204 to hand Sussex an emphatic win in the Division Two encounter.
At the heart of the effort was the outstanding 22-year-old Archer who claimed three for 49 while new-ball partner, South African Vernon Philander, led the way with four for 39.

Archer finished with match figures of eight for 125.
Barbados-born England seamer Chris Jordan failed to add to his overnight tally and finished with two for 41.
Only number nine James Weighell with a breezy 64-ball 58 and Ryan Pringle with 38, showed any resistance as the last six wickets perished for just 107 runs.
Seamer Archer, who claimed five wickets in the first innings, had bowled superbly the previous evening without success but got just reward on Wednesday as he bagged half of the six wickets to tumble.
He took the second wicket of the morning when he bowled Paul Coughlin for 15 and a couple overs later, had Stuart Poynter caught at the wicket without scoring.
Declining quickly at 127 for six, Durham were revived by a 69-run, eighth wicket partnership between Weighell and Pringle, but Archer returned to bowl the former as the innings collpased again.
Archer once again showcased his quality with the bat, hitting a cameo 70 on Tuesday’s third day.
