Water service was restored to “normalcy” to Central Georgetown at 5.30 pm last evening, following a disruption that was caused by an electrical fault, according to the Guyana Water Incorporated (GWI).
In a brief statement last evening, GWI said the water service disruption in Georgetown occurred on Wednesday due to the fault.
It said the restoration of service followed the completion of works by GWI and the Guyana Power and Light Inc (GPL).
GWI added that it will be visiting the wards in Georgetown to ensure the level of service is completely restored throughout the city, as the restoration process will take place over a period of time.
It extended its gratitude to the GPL engineers for their efforts in assisting to rectify the situation and to customers for their patience.
