An East Ruimveldt man was on Wednesday charged with fraudulently converting the proceeds from the sale of $500,000 in rice that had been entrusted to him.
The charge against Patrick Clarke, a truck driver, stated that on November 15, 2016, at Georgetown, being entrusted by Elton Lorde and Rohan Sarjou with 250 bags of Caribe Rice, valued at $500,000, in order that he may sell same and return the proceeds, he fraudulently converted it to his own use.
Clarke, 53, denied the allegation.
There was no objection made in relation to bail being granted.
Subsequently, Magistrate Fabayo Azore granted Clarke his release on $50,000 bail and adjourned the matter to June 7.
