Last Sunday evening SAS (Shan Anthony Seecharran) designs brought pomp and splendour as promised when it launched the third collection ‘Golden Treasure’ attracting cheers and applause, for some ultra-sexy swimsuits and some show-stopping gowns, from the audience at the Millennium Manor Hotel.
The event was emceed by Miss World Guyana semi-finalist Nitifah Thompson along with dancer and aspiring doctor of Congo, James Lamonga who kept the audience entertained during intervals.
The show wasn’t as packed as expected owing to the heavy downpour throughout the day but that in no way affected the evening’s proceedings and was attended by some of Guyana’s most prestigious people in the fashion industry, including semi-finalists of the Miss World Guyana pageant, another contestant who had competed at the Miss India Guyana Pageant just last week, renowned makeup artists, designers and models.
Opening the evening was Quinton Pearson with his vibrant looking ready-to-wear one and two pieces swimwear collection. This led to a short break which brought with it cocktails and cakes in merriment of the celebrated designer who was high in spirits, being it was his 22nd birthday.
Then the ladies took to the catwalk in their SAS pieces accentuated with golden chains, emphasizing the collection’s theme ‘Golden Treasure’. In between male models had cheers erupting from the ladies present, especially when it came to one model and fitness trainer.
During intervals, the audience was serenaded by Miss Guyana Emancipation 2016 and Miss World Guyana semi-finalist 2017 Delisha Wright singing ‘Rise Up’, renowned model Saida Smith belting out ‘Stay’ by Rihanna and Miss India Guyana Contestant 2017 Divya Singh doing dramatic dance to a suicide song in Hindi.
It was during one of these intervals that singer JJ Artz provided excellent entertainment in song while outfitted in his own designs right down to his peculiar shoes that had some of the audience on their feet.
Finally came the gorgeous segment where the ladies gracefully glided in with their flowing gowns drawing ‘oooohhhs’ from the gathering. Divya wore a golden laced gown, followed by model Lesa Seecharran wearing another signature gown, all laced and silvered before falling in ruffled feathers to the floor, leaving some of the guys gaping. The curtains came down when Delisha walked in wearing the shimmering orange-gold sun-set coloured gown, which she had worn in last year’s pageant win.
Two lucky persons at the very end won themselves designer pieces. After the show they were measured and are expected to pick up their prizes this coming week.
