(Trinidad Express) A man recently released from prison was ambushed and shot dead outside a bar in Barataria yesterday.
Nicholas Fortune was liming at the bar along Third Avenue, Barataria, when he got into a car at around 1a.m. to leave.
Fortune, 33, was seated in the front passenger seat.
Police said three vehicles surrounded the car in which Fortune was a passenger and opened fire.
He was hit multiple times in the head and upper body.
Fortune died at the scene.
Two other men were injured in the shooting.
The vehicles then sped off.
Police said the shooting caused chaos as patrons who were liming on the roadway began running for cover.
Northern Division police responded and are continuing investigations.
