The accused in the murder of Charlestown youth Gregory Garraway, who died in hospital after he was shot during a robbery last October, was yesterday committed to
stand trial for the crime in the High Court.
Joshua Meredith, who was charged with murdering Garraway in the course or furtherance of a robbery on October 11, 2016, at Georgetown, was committed to stand trial by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan at the next practicable sitting of the High Court.
The Chief Magistrate told the accused that the prosecutor had brought sufficient evidence against him, hence her ruling.
Garraway, a resident of Russell Street, Charlestown, succumbed to his injuries on October 11, 2016, just over one week after he was shot and robbed of a gold chain on Aubrey Barker Road, South Ruimveldt.
He sustained a single gunshot wound to his chest and was subsequently admitted to the Georgetown Public Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit, where he subsequently died.
