An Albouystown man was yesterday remanded to prison for alleged cocaine possession, while another man was granted his release on bail for alleged possession of a utensil used to smoke cocaine.
Wendell Andrews, 42, is accused of having nine grammes of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking on May 25, at Cross and Leopold streets.
Andrews, a porter, denied the charge after it was read to him in a city court.
After the prosecution objected to Andrews being granted bail, Magistrate Judy Latchman remanded him to prison and adjourned the matter to June 19.
Also arrested at Cross and Leopold streets on May 25 was Ronald Howard, 45, of Lusignan, who was charged with being in possession of a utensil used to smoke cocaine.
Howard, who also appeared before Magistrate Latchman, denied the charge.
Since there was no objection to him being granted his release, Howard was granted his pre-trial liberty on $30,000 bail.
His next hearing is also slated for June 19.
