Dear Editor,
Parliamentary Public Accounts Committee Chairman, Mr Irfaan Ali and his colleague Mr Juan Edghill were very disrespectful towards the CEO of the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC), Mr Allan Johnson, who appeared before them on Monday to answer questions pertaining to the GPHC financial audit for the year 2015-16.
Whilst it must be acknowledged that the CEO needs to prepare better for such appearance, one must take into account the tremendous financial mess inherited not only at the GPHC, but in all the various ministries and government agencies. It will take time to clean this up and bring about some form of transparency and stability, given the present environment of unaccountability and lack of trust that is not so unlike what happened under the previous administration.
What is happening in our country is ‘pot telling pot bottom he black’. People who could not care less for accountability transparency are parading as gods and goddesses; the time has come for us to hold our politicians accountable for their actions and bring about change that will see us progress as the Eldorado of the world.
It’s not too late for all decent-minded Guyanese to awake and take a stand for our nation and let righteousness prevail, so that prosperity will once again be ours.
Yours faithfully,
Andre Fortune
