Tutorial Secondary overcame Adult Education 39-33 in their U19 showdown when the Youth Basketball Guyana (YBG) ‘Georgetown/East Coast Extended Regional Conference’ resumed on Friday.
Played at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall, Homestretch Avenue, Zion Gray was the main threat for the Woolford Avenue unit, recording 18 points and four rebounds.
He was assisted by Denzil Logan who recorded 12 points and Johny Griffith who tallied eight points and 11 rebounds. For the losers, Parid Douglas battled to nine points and eight, while Sharar Keiler chipped in with seven points.
Meanwhile, Bishops’ High gained a walkover from Christ Church Secondary in the second matchup of the division.
In the U14 section, President’s College edged St. Joseph High 15-14. Gabriel Lin scored nine points and had seven rebounds and four steals in the victory.
He was assisted by Joshua Butts who netted four points and had two assists. For the losers, Shaquan Wilson top scored with 11 points. He also had two rebounds.
Also, Marian Academy brushed aside Bishops’ High 40-19. Jether Harris led the way with 20 points and nine rebounds while Meshal Allicock added six points and as many steals.
For Bishops’ High, Raul Moore scored eight points and 12 rebounds, while Keron Bacchus bagged seven points and four rebounds.
The tournament will resume today at the same venue from 16:00hrs with another three matches. Sponsors of the event include the Edward B. Beharry and Company Ltd and the National Sports Commission.
