A forty-two-year-old cattle farmer of Adelphi Village, East Canje, was yesterday morning struck down and killed by motor car, PSS 6395, along the Number 19 Public Road at around 1:30 am.
Dead is Michael Andre Totaram aka ‘Punk Man’. The driver of the car that struck Totaram is in custody and is being held at the Reliance Police Station.
According to Commander of B Division, Ian Amsterdam, ranks on a mobile patrol were alerted to a hit and run. Upon checking the scene, they discovered Totaram’s body.
He was rushed to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
After returning to the scene from the hospital, they noticed the detained driver who was fixing his car. The ranks questioned the driver and immediately placed him under arrest.
