Traditional giant Marian Academy secured wins in the boys U16 and the girls divisions when the Youth Basketball Guyana (YBG) ‘Georgetown/East Coast Regional Conference continued on Saturday.
In the U16 section, Marian Academy dismissed Tutorial High 47-34. Rising star Jether Harris recorded a double-double of 20 points and 10 rebounds.
Diarra Thomas and Josiah Daniels chipped in with seven points each for the Carifesta Avenue unit while Johnny Griffith registered 15 points and grabbed nine rebounds and Jaden Moses assisted with 10 points for Tutorial High.
In the girls division, Marian Academy brushed aside St. Joseph’s High 30-16. Shamina Peroune led the way with eight points and seven rebounds, while Jada Mohan, Jahrier and Angelique Foo chipped in with four points each.
For St Joseph’s, Kadia Lancaster and Zion Bagot each netted four points. In the final U16 showdown, St. Rose’s whipped President’s College 48-24.
Anthony Yansen led the way for the Church Street unit with 21 points and seven rebounds while Kwesi Roberts contributed a double-double of 12 points and 11 rebounds in the win.
For the East Coast Demerara outfit, Rankin McDonald scored seven points and pulled in five rebounds. The next best scorer with six points was Ashnel Burnett.
