A teenager succumbed to her injuries on Monday morning and a pedestrian remains hospitalised, days after they were injured in a motorcycle accident at Supply, East Bank Demerara.
Dead is Keisha Anthony, 18, an apprentice of the Republic Bank (Guyana), Diamond branch and of Lot 62 Timehri North, EBD.
Anthony and the pedestrian, whose name Stabroek News has been unable to ascertain, were taken to the Diamond Hospital before being transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH).
While admitted there, Anthony was a patient in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) nursing injuries to her head and body while the pedestrian sustained lacerations about his body. His condition is listed as stable.
The accident occurred moments after Anthony was picked up from work by her boyfriend and they were heading home on a motorcycle, CH 9730.
According to reports reaching Stabroek News, the motorcyclist was proceeding south along the East Bank Public Road when he reportedly lost control of the bike and collided with the pedestrian.
As a result of the impact, Anthony was flung some distance away. It is unclear if they were wearing helmets.
Investigations are ongoing.
