The police yesterday morning conducted a search of a hire car on the Aurora Public Road, Essequibo Coast during which a quantity of cannabis was discovered and five persons including a woman were taken into custody.
The discovery was made around 08:00hrs yesterday during which 25 taped parcels of cannabis weighing 12.3 kilogrammes were unearthed.
According to a police press release, ranks, acting on information received, stopped and searched the hire car during which the illegal drugs were found in a carton.
Five persons including the driver and a woman were taken into custody to assist with the investigation.
