(Trinidad Express) As many as 600 troops from 20 different countries are going to be in Trinidad and Tobago for the 33rd annual Exercise Tradewinds 2017.
This was announced by National Security Minister Edmund Dillon
on Monday during a media briefing at his ministry.
Dillon described the event as a multinational maritime security and disaster response exercise in the Caribbean.
He noted the exercise is taking place between June 13-17 in the Chaguaramas area, and the minister is advising
residents not to be alarmed on seeing the heavy military presence.
“They’re not going to be using live ammunition. It’s simulated exercise…not to restrict the movements of citizens whatsoever. They’re free to stand up to take a look. We’re not going to disturb you as such,” Dillon said.
