Dear Editor,
There is no denying that Guyana has a lot of political, social and economic problems. It is considered that many of these problems are caused by the political infighting between the governing APNU+AFC coalition and the opposition PPP/C. There seems to be a lack of political will by Guyanese politicians to set aside their political differences and work for the betterment of Guyanese.
As these politicians continue their fighting and playing the ‘who pon top game’ and the ‘blame game’ Guyanese are left to wonder who is working for their betterment?
The starting point for these politicians across the political divide should be to acknowledge that neither side has the solutions to all of Guyana’s problems, and as such they need to co-operate with each other. They also need to be able to acknowledge that we all want what is best for Guyana and Guyanese. Yes, we will have our differences of opinion on the way forward to develop Guyana, but we should not let this stop us from working together. We’re not going to be there forever. So, the sooner politicians across the political divide start co-operating on issues the better off Guyanese will be.
In the meantime, what are Guyanese to do? We can only hope that the media houses will acknowledge that they need to hold both the APNU+AFC government and the PPP/C opposition accountable.
Yours faithfully,
Sean Ori
