UK based Claire Fraser-Green took her fifth successive time trial title yesterday to highlight Day 1 of the National Cycling Championships staged on the Linden/Soesdyke Highway.
In the curtain raiser for the flagship event of the Guyana Cycling Federation (GCF), Fraser-Green completed the 10km trial in 18 minutes and 54 seconds.
Fraser-Green was the lone female cyclist.
In the male side of things, Raynauth Jeffrey (senior) Curtis Dey (Junior) and Leer Nunes (veteran) emerged winners in their respective time trials.

The two-day fixture will continue today from 08:00hrs with the Road Race Championship.
The juniors and veterans will compete in the 70-mile road race from Homestretch Avenue to Camp Weslyan on the Linden/Soesdyke Highway and back. The female and juvenile riders will compete in a 53-mile race which also starts on Homestretch Avenue but turns back at Timehri’s bottleneck and finishes at the point of origin.
One week later, the senior riders will take centre stage in a historic and grueling 103-mile race from Homestretch Avenue to Camp Soweyo and back.
