(The Sports Xchange) – The Boston Celtics and Philadelphia 76ers made their agreed-upon trade official yesterday, a deal that will see the teams swap the Nos. 1 and 3 picks in Thursday night’s NBA Draft.
The 76ers acquired the top overall pick from Boston in exchange for their No. 3 selection and a future first-round pick, according to statements released by both teams.
The Los Angeles Lakers, who have the No. 2 pick in Thursday’s NBA Draft, reportedly are working to acquire another high first-rounder as they search for players to improve their outside shooting and perimeter defense.
The Lakers have engaged at least two teams in the draft lottery as they continue their rebuilding process, league sources told ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne.
Dallas Mavericks star Dirk Nowitzki will be one of the captains for the NBA’s Africa Game on Aug. 5.
The NBA and National Basketball Players Association announced that Nowitzki, who is from Germany, will be a co-captain of Team World along with Charlotte Hornets All-Star Kemba Walker.
