Cindy Dawson, the teacher who was found lying next to the partially decomposed body of her husband some three weeks ago in their Cummings Lodge apartment, was yesterday morning discovered hanging at her brother’s Charity, Essequibo Coast home.
Stabroek News understands that the discovery was made around 5 am yesterday by Dawson’s brother; she had been spending some time with him following her discharge from the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH).
Reports revealed that her brother left her watching television on Sunday evening and retired to bed. He woke up yesterday morning and was heading to the bathroom when he made the discovery.
Dawson, a nursery school teacher had been discovered unconscious next to her dead husband, Kevin Dawson, a miner, in their Lot 7 GEC Scheme, Cummings Lodge, East Coast Demerara apartment on June 5, around 6.30 pm.
Cindy was taken to the GPH where she remained a patient for more than a week. Information revealed that the news of Kevin’s death had taken a toll on Cindy and she had moved to spend some time with her family in Essequibo.
A post-mortem examination conducted on the remains of Kevin had revealed that he died as a result of malaria and typhoid.
A tenant from another apartment at the house had previously related to this newspaper that the couple had been found when some of the woman’s colleagues visited the apartment looking for her after several calls and messages to her phone went unanswered.
She explained that after calling and loud knocking on the door produced no results, they sensed something was amiss and decided to break into the apartment by removing several louvre panes.
