Dear Editor,
I live at Bus Shed Street, Land of Canaan, East Bank Demerara. Under the former administration repairs were done to several streets in villages along the East Bank. However, only a portion of Bus Shed Street was repaired.
What is noticeable is that the part of the street that was repaired stretched from the East Bank Public Road to where a loyal supporter of the PPP lived and where public meetings of the party were held.
The other streets in the area are becoming even worse as a result of the present rainfall, and holes in the streets are getting larger and deeper, and are filled with water.
After the present government took office an official from the Ministry of Communities who once lived in the area visited and promised to make representations to have the road repaired. To date nothing has been done.
I’m therefore asking the relevant authorities to visit this area, have a first-hand look at the situation and try to have these streets repaired.
Yours faithfully,
Colin Gill
