A Diamond Housing Scheme resident, accused of being in possession of two pounds of cocaine, was remanded to prison on Monday.
Magistrate Judy Latchman read the charge to Keon Aaron, whom it is alleged had 1.124 kg of cocaine (equivalent to 2.4 pounds) in his possession for trafficking on June 17 at Stabroek Market.
Aaron, of 85 Eighth Avenue, Diamond Housing Scheme, denied the charge.
According to the prosecutor’s facts, on the day in question a police corporal was conducting a raid at Stabroek Market, where he saw Aaron acting in a suspicious manner. The court heard that Aaron then went into a car, bearing licence plate PRR 4991, with a white plastic bag. He was later arrested, the bag was retrieved and the cocaine was found.
Bail was objected to by the prosecution and Aaron was remanded to prison until July 20, when his next hearing is scheduled.
