The Guyana Water Incorporated today advised residents of Georgetown that during the shift of 23:00hrs (11:00pm) June 30 to 7:00hrs (7:00am), July 1,2017, failure to apply the chemicals at the required dosage to ensure discoloration is removed from the water was due to the negligence of three officers. The officers were discovered to be sleeping during the period, GWI said in a release.
Despite information being shared with the three officers by the lab that the colour was deviating from normal, no action was taken. Hence, residents would have received the discoloured water from 3:00am to 12:00noon, the release said.
GWI has been able to correct the problem and sincerely apologises for any inconvenience caused.
