Investigations into the attempted robbery committed on Terrence Ramlochan, a Better Hope contractor who was shot over a month ago, remain active, Divisional Commander Calvin Brutus said yesterday.
The ‘C’ Division Commander in an interview with Stabroek News said several persons were questioned in relation to the robbery and identification parades were held, but the victim failed to point out any of the men as the perpetrator.
Nevertheless, he explained that they are still working to capture the persons in the attack which occurred on May 29.
On the night of the attempted robbery, Ramlochan had just arrived home around 9pm and was in the process of opening the gate, when a male suspect armed with a handgun pounced on him, and demanded cash and his cellular phone. The police said that the victim refused and tried to disarm the suspect, but during the ensuing struggle, the suspect discharged a round which struck the victim who fell. Thereafter, the suspect quickly fled the scene.
Ramlochan, 31, of North Better Hope, East Coast Demerara, was shot in the upper region of the right side of his chest. He was rushed to the hospital by relatives where he was treated and admitted.
