Dear Editor,
Mr Anil Nandlall on the 25th April, 2017 was granted an Ex Parte Conservatory Order by the acting Chief Justice preventing the Guyana Police Force from seizing fifteen (15) Commonwealth Law Reports (CLR) for the years 2012 to May 2015. This Order had a duration of 14 days.
The Law Reports for which the warrant was sought were not those mentioned in the Order of Court of 25th April, 2017 but for the Law Reports of the Commonwealth (LRC).
The Law Reports of the Common-wealth (LRC) provide comprehensive coverage of legal developments throughout the Commonwealth. The citation of these Reports is, LRC whereas, that of the Commonwealth Law Reports is CLR.
The Commonwealth Law Reports (CLR) are the source of decisions emanating from Australia. The Reports which were allegedly taken by Mr Nandlall are the Law Reports of the Commonwealth which are sourced from (Butterworths) Lexis Nexis, United Kingdom.
Yours faithfully,
Justice Claudette Singh, SC
Legal Advisor
Guyana Police Force
