Mario King of the Guyana Police Force (GPF) outrode Alonzo Ambrose of the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) in a thrilling two-man sprint finish to cart off the spoils of the feature 35-lap event of the P and P Insurance Brokers criterium programme yesterday.
King, who recorded his first signature win of the season, stopped the clock in a brisk one hour, 18 minutes and 21 seconds in perfect conditions for racing at the National Park.
Seasoned veteran, Warren ’40’ McKay joined the duo from the disciplined forces on the podium.
Jamal John placed fourth, while Raul Leal and Paul DeNobrega completed the top six rewarding positions.
Other winners yesterday included: Jonathan Ramsuchit (BMX Boys and Girls 12-14 years), Gerard Barrington (BMX Boys 6-9 years), Ryan Canterbury (Mountain Bike), Brighton John (Juveniles), Jaikarran Sukhai (Veteran U-50 years) and Andy Spencer (Veteran O-50 years).
At the completion of the event, its organizer, Hassan Mohamed congratulated the cyclists for making the day a success and also thanked the sponsor P and P Insurance Brokers for being onboard.
