Carlos Mendonca emerged winner of the featured Shifter Karts Pro Cup when the third edition of the Motorsports GT Grand Prix was staged on Saturday at the Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club.
Mendonca, who placed second in two of the three events and won the other, thrilled racing fans with some excellent driving skills and overcame the likes of Elliott Jeffrey, Matthew Phang, Stephan Jeffrey and Michael Gonsalves.
Phang, however, was in a class by himself, racking up two wins and a second place finish in the 125cc senior category. Another young talent, Jean Claude Jeffrey won the Easy Cup Light event in his debut.
Daughter of Carlos, Paige Mendonca, the lone female competing on the circuit, emerged as champion of Sunburst 60cc Kids Cup. The nine year-old recorded the fastest lap time in both races of the category to take home the spoils.
Meanwhile, Raymond Baksh was also impressive on Saturday night, winning all three races in his Easy Cup Rookie event. He was the only driver to win all three races in the same category for the evening.
