The police force is currently combing the backlands of Buxton, East Coast Demerara for escapees from Sunday’s prison revolt.
A senior police officer says the search was initiated after intelligence was received.
Eight prisoners are missing following the breakout on Sunday afternoon. Thus far there has been no sighting of them.
There have been conflicting reports on where the escapees may be. A man who says he was carjacked by the escapees on Sunday afternoon says they left him at Land of Canaan on the East Bank Demerara. After a day of walking, the man, Matthew Shivtahal says he found his way to Annandale on the East Coast Demerara.
