The trial of Basil Morgan, for the 2009 murder of Woodette Roberts, commenced on Tuesday before Justice James Bovell-Drakes and a 12-member jury at the High Court, in Georgetown.
The charge against Morgan is that on November 4, 2009, at Dora, Soesdyke-Linden Highway, he murdered Roberts.
The accused has pleaded not guilty to the capital indictment.
Testifying yesterday at the trial was crime scene photographer Desmond Johnny, who produced to the court 56 photographs of the crime scene and their negatives.
Additionally, Johnny presented two spent shells, which he said were retrieved from the scene.
The items were all admitted as exhibits in the trial.
It is the state’s case that on the day in question, Morgan, in the company of others, murdered Roberts in the course or furtherance of a robbery.
Morgan is being represented by defence attorney Lyndon Amsterdam, while the state’s case is being led by Prosecutor Tuanna Hardy, in association with Tamieka Clarke and Seeta Bishundial.
