Former Region #1 winner Santa Rosa Secondary, dismantled Kamwatta by a 7-0 scoreline, when the 7th Annual Digicel Schools Football Championship continued yesterday at the Kamaka Community ground.
It was a clinical second half performance from home team in front a partisan crowd that numbered in the hundreds, with every conversion evoking a thunderous applause.
Romel Dindial broke the deadlock in the 38th minute, latching onto a loose ball from a deflected shot, before lashing his effort into the back of the net. Deon Gomes increased their lead in the 42nd minute, unleashing a left foot volley, which nestled into the left corner.
The ‘goal rush’ continued in the 49th minute, as Raul Archer scored. The conversion was a carbon copy of the second goal, with Archer thumping a left foot volley into the left corner from the top of the box, giving the goalkeeper no chance.
Archer made his presence felt once more in the 54th minute, racing onto through pass from the left side, before cutting across the body of the goalkeeper and firing a left foot shot into the right hand corner.
The dominance of the host continued two minutes later, with Gomes recording his second via a finish into the lower right corner, after evading several challenges while racing into the left of the area.
Gomes then bagged his hat-trick in the 62nd minute compliments of a powerful flat effort into the lower left side, after a left side corner-kick was deflected into his path.
The scoreline was sealed in the 70th minute, as Gomes clinched his helmet-trick, tucking the ball under the advancing goalkeeper from inside the right of the penalty box.
With the win, Santa Rosa will now oppose Karaburi today at the same venue. The event resumes today at various venues.
