Thresha Griffith, the Essequibo woman who was stabbed late last month, has been discharged from the hospital and is at home recuperating.
Griffith, 29, of Nunes Canal, Lower Pomeroon River was stabbed several times about her body resulting in her being hospitalised for approximately a week in the Intensive Care Unit at the Georgetown Public Hospital.
According to her sister, Wanita (only name given), she was recently discharged, and is showing significant improvement.
The sister explained that Griffith had to undergo surgery during her stay at the hospital.
She remarked that since her sister was discharged from the hospital, she has been recuperating well at home.
Meanwhile, Police Commander of ‘G’ Division Stephen Mansell told Stabroek News that the suspect, Griffith’s reputed husband Randolph George, 28, who also resides at Nunes Canal Lower Pomeroon River, was charged with attempted murder and remanded to prison, shortly after the stabbing.
On June 26, George and Griffith were at a liquor restaurant at Charity, when an argument ensued between them after George accused Griffith of having a relationship with another man.
The argument went on for several minutes, then George reportedly armed himself with a knife and dealt Griffith a stab to her abdomen, one cut to her neck, three cuts to her left breast, two cuts to right breast and two stabs to her stomach.
After the assault, public-spirited citizens rushed the woman to the Oscar Joseph District Hospital in Charity. However, because of the extent of her injuries, she was transferred to the Suddie Public Hospital and later to the Georgetown Public Hospital.
