The trial of ex-policeman Ruel Brandon, who is charged with the murder of Davonan Sookram, commenced yesterday before Justice Nareshwar Harnanan and a 12-member jury at the High Court in Georgetown.
It is alleged that between July 27 and July 31, 2015, at Ruby, East Bank Essequibo, Brandon murdered Sookram, called “Tall Boy.”
He has pleaded not guilty.
When the trial began yesterday, former police photographer and current Inspector of Police Lalbachand Dial recounted visiting the scene and taking 20 photographs. Those photos were tendered into evidence.
The case continues this morning at 9.
The state’s case is being presented by prosecutors Siand Dhurjon, Shawnette Austin and Lisa Cave, while Brandon is being represented by attorney Nigel Hughes.
